Dozens of electric vehicle drivers and enthusiasts will display their vehicles, offer test drives and rides, and answer questions from the public, to highlight the fun, clean-air benefits, and cost-savings of electric cars on September 13th. At least two city council members plan to attend. The event is part of the fifth-annual National Drive Electric Week.
Plug-in vehicles from Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Tesla, BMW, Mitsubishi, Honda, Kia, and other automakers will be on display by their owners and many will be available for test drives or rides. Many local businesses and non-profits will be present including Community Energy Challenge, Sierra Club, Western Solar, itek Energy, Smith Kia, and Wilson Motors, and delicious Asian fusion food will be provided by The Rickshaw. Bellingham City Council member Michael Lilliquist and Ferndale City Council member Paul Ingram are both expected to attend.
Bellingham’s event is one of more than 150 across the country where electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, recognition of leaders promoting EVs, launches of new public EV charging stations and other public events.
